Curator’s Comments:
From what I can see from your other paintings posted on the site, Details does not seem to be in fact a cropped section or detail of a larger painting, but a complete piece in its own right. While it does offer the sensation of reaching beyond the confines of the picture plane because of the cropped organic shapes, it stays true to the aesthetic sensibility of your free flowing sculptures and paintings. The value pattern of the small work contains graduated chiaroscuro that also gives it’s a strong dimensional presence. The darker shadow in the left sight suggests a cavern or hollow in the space, while the highlighted shapes control gentle pictorial movement. The understated green coloration seems not quite monochromatic; with subtle transitions from warmer yellow-green to bluer shadow. While the palette could reference leaves or stems, for me the non-objectivity of the image imparts more of a general mood of transition and growth rather than specificity of natural form.
