These thrown and altered porcelain vessels are fascinating.  I enjoy the fluidity of form that appears to effortless arrest the motion inherent in the creative process.  The delicately carved pieces with open lace sections or interstices remind me of rice grain, or “devil’s work” Chinese ling long pottery.  This labor intensive carving is offset in your constructions by the more freely meandering ribbons of clay- both physical manipulations suggest an expert handling that stretch the structural possibilities of the medium.  (Maybe rice grain patterning meets George Ohr.) This specific piece, titled China White a, beautifully opens up and appears to begin to fold back into itself, such as the mesmerizing natural movements of a venus flytrap.  The proportions of the vessel height to the vessel opening are also pleasing to me, offering visual solidity and stability of form restraining the looser tendrils.  Even before reading the titles of the works, I sensed an organic quality in your aesthetic that is arguably feminine.  The references to floral motifs and lace accentuate these references to gender customs and conventions, and perhaps reflect and tie in to long held traditions with porcelain bowls.
