Curator’s Comments:
I’m attracted to the radiant color palette in this painting, and the small, almost cryptic symbols throughout. At first the sunny hues in the piece titled Night Scene in Yellow look like a contradiction; the warmth generated seems to come from natural rather than artificial sources. But the all-encompassing yellow-gold ultimately has an otherworldly glow. The red sun-like radial design in the top portion of the composition reads as a sun, despite its value being slightly darker and less saturated than the surrounding yellow. Small abstracted figurative shapes and lines suggest pathways and excavated surfaces. I appreciate the center line, functioning as a skewed horizon that cuts the piece in relative halves without imparting too much horizontal stability. There’s an interesting visual tension and unifying formal homogeny to the work. Essentially I admire it for its pure non-objectivity.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
