Curator’s Comment:
I just came across this folio of images, realizing it was posted some time ago. I’m attracted to the strong Pop/graphic sensibility that predominates the work, while maintaining a slight obscurity of form. This piece for instance (Little Crater Lkae?) suggests the contained implosion of a Molotov-cocktail; the upside down heart on the fuse alluding to love gone wrong. The twisting rag in the poison-green bottle takes on further venomous animation when the viewer interprets the heart/flame as a serpentine head. The more delicate gold line work around the forms provides tension and agitation, while offering more complex visual interest against the bold shapes. The other purely non-objective formations such as Merkaba evidence a sophisticated handling of color and geometric abstraction. These hard edged designs offer a pulsating movement with the slight shifts in chroma. But I find myself lingering longer at the pieces with narrative symbols. The title A Little Pain in My Heart is quite humorous in the understatement and contrast of the romantically charged imagery. To this end the saturated complimentary hues effectively play against the central black heart.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
