Curator’s Comments:
I believe I may have overlooked this surprising mixed media construction when it was posted back in 2012, as I was taken in by your more colorful paintings. White House and Forest in a Box, appears to depict a small house burned out by fire. The charring of its white surface is a starling contrast to the organic elements that make up the trees and background. The dark ground interestingly presents simultaneously as a singed and carbonized forest floor, or naturally rich soil. It appears that a panoramic photograph was used to portray a mountainous expanse behind the trees. For me, the illusion of a vast space inside a small sculptural work creates tension in the visual paradox. The burning of the man-made structures amplifies this friction between human -made and ecological surrounds.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
