Resident Curator, Ms Woodward- thank you for your insightful remarks for my work. This series continues to expand in ways that take form on its own as I am but the translator. Knowing that others "see" only breathes more life into this endeavor. Thank you, again.

Curator’s Comment:

This piece is wonderfully refined and delicate.  I enjoy the understated edges of what appear to be numerous planes of space, or visual fields.  The dangling vertical feather slices through the planes and seems both precarious and stabilizing; while the low contrast pale color lends itself to ethereal flight.  Interestingly, there’s also a forceful opposition created by the feather’s interruption in the horizontal intervals.  It leaves the viewer in mid-air.   The warm tonality across the top section is also sensitively counterbalanced by the silhouetted birds placed diagonally on the bottom.  There seems to be a similar use of space in the adjacent image with a pine cone- dwg-163.  But the pinecone appears to be an added found object rather than photographic image, so it carries considerably more visual weight & impact.  I’m curious if these are both photographic collages, or if I’m seeing the pinecone existing in three-dimensional space.  Either way, the ambiguity of illusion/object is best served with the bird subject matter. There’s nothing like reality to bring us back down to earth.
