Curator’s Comments:
I’m drawn to this Moment in Time because of the layered bands of landscape with contrasting textures and surfaces. The foreground is particularly interesting since it has an almost abstracted assortment of smooth multi-colored stones forming a dense field. They end abruptly up against a foamy blue-white section of the waves, which then shift quickly again to dark, turbulent peaks. The viewer appears to be positioned right over the edge of the stones- making the height and vantage point of the piece appropriate for human perspective, as well as strengthening the invitation into the picture plane. The slight tilt of the horizon injects some instability into the viewers footing, and psychologically draws us into the center distance where the waves in explicably start to open up. I like the intensity of this painting in its textural manipulation of an otherwise straightforward seascape; absent of human presence. The attention to detail and texture throughout the work deny us a calm space to rest, and carries us out to unpredictable waters.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
