Thank you for sharing this new pastel work to the site.  I always enjoy viewing your drawings and paintings of the natural world, from close up specimen studies to more expansive landscapes.  Elk Falls decidedly falls into the later category, offering a steep drop in vertical space. The violet shadows in the rockface and water deepen the distance in the picture plane, and wonderfully contrast the verdant green foliage. What I find particularly intriguing in this work in the manner in which representational details in the cliff and trees in the foreground ground the viewer in the landscape, and then the waterfall dissolves into atmospheric abstraction. A micro/macrocosmic viewpoint is evident throughout your body of work, and inspires slow looking.
