Curator’s Comment:
These vigorous non-objective paintings envelope the viewers’ senses, and overwhelm with drips, slashes and bold gestural paint application. I particular like this piece, Untitled 2, for the small amount of negative space sets off a figure-ground relationship, and provides visual entry into the tangle of active brushstrokes. The centralized light space also reads as an opening, surrounding by darker, almost black color. I also see a strong compositional architecture in this work- vertical thrusts of line moving in repeated arcs in the center and right of the picture plane. Untitled 3 shares some of these dominant aesthetic characteristics, but the pure red ‘x’ shape in the foreground becomes a potent focal point, and denies my entry into the riotous space.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
