Curator’s Comments:

Fetiche came up randomly on the site today, and I enjoyed reflecting on the manner in which the piece simultaneously represents as image and object.  The stark white background is a beautiful foil to the articulated organic textures in the stacked totem arrangement. The white “crack” running through the central ochre shape implies vulnerability in the already precarious stacking of the other components. The piece has a slight figural reference, with a head on top with protruding hair, and two crossed arms.  The singular “leg” of the image counterbalances the other collaged shapes in familiar organization.   Looking back through your other pieces on the site, I remember admiring many of the more intricate paintings and dimensional assemblages. While Fetiche communicates this strong aesthetic and signature style, there is also an inventive freshness to the economy of form. Please do consider posting new work.  I would very much like to see how your work has evolved.
