Curator’s Comment:
This Figure Study offers an instinctively haptic and resonant textural surface on top of careful anatomical investigation. While I appreciate your more direct representational works, many appear to be very close skillful approximations of photographic sources. In contrast this painting has a swaying emotional and organic quality, offering what appears to be a more personal vision. The visceral weaving of alternating thick and thin demarcations along with correlated design elements draws me deeper into the space. While physical dimensions aren’t noted, there is a palpable intimacy to the piece that suggests it can be viewed simultaneously as an image and dimensional object. The folding of the figure into himself also contributes to the psychologically inward looking private tenor. What it lacks in specificity and sharp detail, it more than makes up for in empathetic expression.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
