Thanks for the great comments Erik.  I'm glad you see the work as timely, as I've been thinking a lot about Liberty these days.

The duality in this image is striking. I am left asking who is attacking who. Meanwhile, the visual appendage in the foreground, reading "Freedom" is as much a ransom note as a body shield. "Freedom" is both metaphorically and physically in harms way of the apparent male aggressor. While the target shots from this series pop out from the background and draw our eye, the reddish muscular arms of the assailant are clearly the focal point in this timely composition. Possibly this is more a metaphysical scene of Liberty taking (her) own life or bargaining with her only "poker chip."
