Curator’s Comments:
Driftwood Canyon (VII) is an exquisitely textured photograph, playing with a macro/microcosmic observation of nature. The bleached portion of the twisted wood maintains a figurative quality or appendage just as it merges with the broader convoluted wooden trunk. The cracks and striations of the weathered surface play against each other in a beautiful testament to the torment of aging! Realizing I may have overlooked this more subtle close up image while I was viewing your more expansive landscapes a while back, I realize it has many of the same mirrored qualities of the ‘bigger pictures’. The subtle shifts between gray and warm brown tones add richness to an otherwise high contrast composition. It is an abstraction of sorts, through careful cropping. There is a sense of discovery in the ordinary, and awe in the elemental forces constantly at work.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
