Curator’s Comments:

Flowers and Saxophone came up randomly on the site today, and I would have likely recognized it as your work if I had more recently viewed your wonderful hand painted silk paintings.  I remember having great admiration for the crimson foliage in the batik Autumn Red Tree.     This piece has an interesting elongating abstraction that provides graceful visual fluidity throughout the image. The slightly muted color palette softens the shape contours further, and gives the work an overall organic feel.  I enjoy the perception that the vase of flowers is floating on a table supported by flower stems. The asymmetry in the composition of the still life objects also provides an interesting balance. The larger and more ornate vase appears to spill flowers as music into the stylized saxophone, blending our sensory perception of sight and sound.  I do hope you continue to post new works on the site.
