Curator’s Comments:
I have enjoyed viewing your artwork for many years, now. Your body of collage work runs from the fantastical combinations of figural elements to the quite subtle, and sublime. Perspective falls into the latter category for me, and so I didn’t immediately recognize it as part of your studio practice when it came up on the site. Rather than creating surreal relationships between the achromatic and color photographs, the nuanced color alteration combined with the piece’s title suggests a slight shift in time. The quintessential family of four with the dog await the boats on the dock, but the boats appear to move within a deeper, choppier gray water, from a considerably lower spatial perspective. The twinkling stars against the pure black night sky are another restrained modification of the daytime landscape. Only when one looks for the sun (or moon) does the realization occur that the boaters are moving out of a space with curiously smooth hills, into the visual field of a family who awaits them. The tension between these spaces suspends their meeting, now, and likely ever.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
