Curator’s Comments:

I perceive a jagged agitation in Hangover, making the active painting appear much larger than the physical scale indicated.  The red-orange and black pigments are also jarring against the deep pink sections of asymmetrical balance.  The imposing central red shape appears to slice through the composition, and sever the lighter yellow-white ground. The small pink and whitish dots slow down the pictorial movement a bit, but the strength of the piece is in its decisive gestural swaths of pure color.
