Curator’s Comments:

Heartstrings is a wonderful piece- deliciously dark, and complex in its countless entanglements.  I do detect an obscured heart form within the center of the mass of linear crossings, but its ambiguity of form is what most holds my interest. I also enjoy the value shifts in the dark ‘strings’, which revert to white in some places, emphasizing the textural contrast.  While I like the other new solar plate etchings with some added acrylic and gouache, the black and white pieces have visual impact in their rich achromatic value pattern.  I’m happy you’ve left them without the color embellishment. Thank you for sharing these prints on the site.  They have strong connections to your more colorful oil paintings, and complement the refined handling of organic abstractions.
