Curator’s Comment:
Disclaimer: I recently spoke with the artist to learn more about Process Art House.
I thoroughly enjoy your range of media and approach, and am intrigued to see your work fluctuates between unabashed gestural expression and methodical, economically structured geometric relationships. Heightened Awareness in particular has a curious and appealing visual tension, which seems to engage both of your strong suits. The high chroma yellow-orange ground pulsates with a constrained energy, as it’s interrupted by a Malevich-esque black square. I do enjoy the irony and comic jest of the obvious hardware that holds the central square tightly in place. Its construction dismantles the figure-ground relationship, as the perimeters of the space become ambiguous. The under-over regular cadence of the paint and linear elements also contribute to the rhythmic pull. I find there’s also a humorous and rich formal dynamic to Ride ‘em. As a free standing sculptural piece it beautifully shares some of the same tension between loose handling of physical line and staid configuration.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
