Curator’s Comment:
I find these pieces quite beautiful, and poised in their fluid manipulation. Antennae has an amazing formal contrast between the richly developed shadow and color and the surprisingly smooth ground. While I perceive the subject to be very abstract, I can make out what seem to be vestiges of gnarled wood and architectural elements. The cooler blue hues and warm grey tonality may allude to meandering branches against a distant sky, or an aerial view of rivulets of water. Either way, the organic liquidity holds the disparate surfaces together, as the ‘cut’ or cropped edges of the central image ultimately create a porous boundary for extension of lines. I do appreciate the quiet rest culled from the neutral ground. The intricacy of the image almost reads as a fragmentary object on a flat surface.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
