Curator’s Comments:
Said the Crow on the Cradle 6 came to my attention today, though it was posted some time ago. I concur with the other artists who’ve commented in the past on the enigmatic quality of the shadowy abstractions. The piece does possess an interesting combination of amorphous organic forms and dark linear shapes which provide contrast as they slice through the surface. I see these dark lines are rib like- structural, but also creating a separate interruption of the natural order. The title conjures a vague narrative, and is reminiscent of a fairy tale or fable. The ‘crow’ combined with ‘cradle’ summons harbingers of birth (or death). It’s certainly a poetic combination of forms and multi-faceted ideas. The color palette is arguably more subdued than many of your other works, but shares a strong signature style. While the media of the piece isn’t indicated, I imagine it was digitally created because of the textural (pixelated?) surface. I would be interested to know about your process, and the origin of the imagery. In either case, I do hope to see more of your work on the site.
Thanks for your comment Marcia. I agree, there is a strange feel to this work.
I really like this but find it rather disturbing as well
Thanks Julie. I feel art is often beautiful because we each discover our own interpretation and meaning. I am very happy you have taken time to find value and interest in my work.
today i discovered hidden figures in your work, deeply recessed, when i look at the thumbnails. when i click on the thumbnail to enlarge the pictures, they disappear or become so shadowy it raises questions as to their presence, pretty wonderful.
