This oil painting sits along side the barbed wire image

Curator’s Comments:
This not yet titled image is enticing in the layering of what appear to be contrasting natural strata. The green underpainting suggests lush foliage taken over by the spiny vines overlaid on top. The contrast in value sets the forms apart, but also weaves them together in a complex allover pattern. The circular white sunburst/dandelion shape off to the slight left underscores the continuity of the white spikes, while offering visual relief from the tight design. I much prefer this painting to the adjacent barbed wire piece you reference in the comment section, but can see how they relate. The later work is stark and jarring by comparison; accentuating the dramatic lines of the wire without much distraction. Perhaps because of the relationships seen in the green/vines paintings I’m wishing for a seductive layer of imagery to draw me in closer.
