Curator’s Comments:

I find the ethereal female figure in Imagen 1 at once restful and seductive with her ensnaring tendrils of jet black hair.  She recalls the Medusa archetype with her snake like ropes of long hair, but she also appears peaceful in composure and gesture; catching the moon or sun no doubt a dreamy act.   The simplicity of her gesture and robed/covered head could also intimate the Virgin Mary in blue, as depicted in early Judeo-Christian iconography.  It’s an interesting contrast of femininity to consider, as her full red lips are the perfect female counterpoint to her closed blue lidded eyes.  The shading in the facial features softens her more graphic silhouette, and high chroma cobalt ground. The other two pieces you’ve posted on the site similarly celebrate womanly form through stylized decoration.  But neither Imagen 2 or 3 for me evokes such specific cultural or mythological associations.  They are all interesting pieces- I do hope you continue to add work to the site.
