Curator’s Comments:
Welcome to the site! I enjoyed viewing the sampling of your sculptural work, which appear from this grouping to vacillate between anthropomorphic realism to considerable organic abstraction. This apparently untitled piece resembles a bronze helmet in form and color, but you didn’t offer notations on scale or media. I’m attracted to the rounded form, and surface which appears to bear the marks of physical manipulation, or hammering. (I see the piece entitled Struggle shares some of the same aesthetic attributes, including a surface patina, and it is listed as cast aluminum.) I find these textures particularly satisfying and most appropriate for the emotion expressed in the later piece. The rough marks slow down the eye as we move along the vertical gesture, while suggesting evidence of conflict and exertion. I appreciate the considerable technical skill evidenced in these works, and how the process serves the content. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
