Curator’s Comments:

This enigmatic piece remains a popular work on the site, being originally posted back in 2015.  The title references human transformation, and the horizontal bands throughout the image support the concept of a timeline shift.  But the figure is mysteriously shrouded in what looks like a bonnet on a dissolving torso.  The abstraction and uncertainty of the form is compounded in the context of your other figurative works, of which most are Classically rendered with anatomical specificity.  On closer inspection I see that this Sapient Paradox 2 work is in fact part of another painting rather than a series, which includes a larger human figure with exposed musculature. With emphasis on the articulated spinal column in the foreground, the viewer understands the shrouded figure to be one blimp in a catacomb of time. The ambiguity and looseness of handling nicely advances the visual narrative.  I would love to learn about your inspiration for this narrative work, and hope you continue to share new work to the site if you are able.
