Curator’s Comments:
I’m sorry to have overlooked the subtle watercolor titled In the Moment, and so was happy to be able to revisit the image when it came up randomly on the site. The softness of the brushstrokes assists the atmospheric perspective, and supports the primary emphasis on the more detailed foreground. Delicate flowers create a visual bridge to the hazy violet hues in the background, and along with the dark pine tree, and serve as figural stand-ins within the landscape. The reflections in the pale water offer restful repetition to the clusters of foliage, but also blur the distinctions between water and ground. Looking through your other scenes, I’m struck by the number of paintings that contain an open road or path, leading the viewer into the picture. In the Moment in fact does the opposite, creating a natural barrier to the idyllic shoreline. Perhaps the suggestion is the unattainability of entrance allows the setting to remain pristine, and beautifully untouched.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
