Curator’s Comments:

 

Into the light literally pulls me into the picture plane with a corner-shadowed tunnel vision. The space is beautifully softened by graduated warm hues, while the grouping of sparse, silhouetted trees creates a somber or melancholy mood. When I looked back through your other photographic works posted on the site a number of years ago, I was surprised by the more frequent use of saturated hues.  I admired several pieces for their depiction of what appeared to be supernatural events or extreme weather within ordinary landscapes.  While stylistically quite different, Into the light also evokes an altered state or consciousness. It could be also be viewed as offering heightened awareness of the everyday.  I see that this work, along with the others, were posted a number of years ago.  I do hope you continue to share new work on the site- I would love to see where your photography has taken you.
