love this energetic, organic slice of faceless life, shadowy, so much depth & movement, haphazard looking structure adds fragility, spot of glowing red in the background heats up the scene, lots of atmospheric interest for the eye throughout. yum

Edge of Soho is an exquisite composition that evokes a lucid, sensory experience. The subdued color palette and stark value contrast offers a rich, realistic depiction of a city scape, while the forms dissipate before our eyes.  The smoky shadows cause edges to dissolve into larger opaque masses, as the figures abruptly move into ground and atmosphere.  I particularly enjoy the loose brushy strokes in the center of the painting, which fluctuate between elusive pink and blue tones.  The stronger cast shadows of the figures walking on the pavement anchor the whole scene, just as the weight of the urban environment floats above the pale grey ground. I appreciate the threads that tie the different works together in your portfolio, often feeling as though the human experience is captured amidst a variety of backdrops and cultures.  But as in several other works, there’s a faint feeling of being alone in a crowd.
