Curator’s Comments:

This older piece Doublevision Study recently attracted my attention with its bold pyramidal form. A closer viewing revealed complexities with light and space that are echoed with further development in other works. As this oil painting was titled a study I looked for it in other pieces, but imagine you have a much larger body of work, and that it could have also evolved to become unrecognizable. Doublevision affirms a keen interest in illusion and duplicity that is at the root of these other significant works. I interpret the different colored eyes as human versus animal/feline, calling to mind zoomorphic facets of sight. The starkness of the black background space appears to be a visual outlier in your incredible surreal works.
