Curator’s Comments:

The irregularly shaped piece Kaleidoscope Eyes greets the viewer with pleasing movement inside and out.  I appreciate how the organic shape of the perimeter echoes the round curves of the “eyes” inside while providing variety of shape. The rainbow hued circles appear to be grouped as lower chroma hues radiating out from the primary colored center pieces of yellow and red. Accompanied by a subtle shifting of tone and value, the space seems to pulsate outward.  For me, the dot pattern somewhat recalls the obsessive polka dots of Yayoi Kusama, but the containment also presents the viewer with a painterly object rather than pattern field. It’s interesting to see how this piece compares to your other colorful works.  I remember admiring achromatic pieces several years ago, and wonder how your practice has evolved.  Please consider posting new work if you’re inclined and able.
