Curator’s Comments:
I also wish to echo the comments made (some time back) about the strength of this work as a diptych, and the interesting gap of time between the development of the two panels. I’m wondering if you were looking at the same physical place for inspiration, or perhaps even looking to the original work a year later. The second painting, if I’m reading them correctly and chronologically left to right, doesn’t seem to be a ghost of the first, but rather a more developed and in focus landscape with the added intention of an “angelic” or supernatural presence. It’s as if the viewer is led into the environment with the left half to experience the apparition shortly after. The piece entitled Mystical Woods carries some of the same atmospheric qualities, but the trees form a more homogeneous front into the shallow forested space. The cool blue and violet hues add an enigmatic quality to the scene, as time of day and season are suspended. The light source also appears to come from the front of the tree lines, rather from above or off to the horizon. By contrast, the achromatic palette and conventional light in Angels in the Woods arguably makes the vision more angelic by contrast.
Yes..its nutz..but I thought wow ..look at that .!!
Thank you for taking the time to view my artwork..
Miracle
What I find interesting is that the two paintings by themselves only come alive when they are one. A visual marriage.
Thank you James..
