This shaped (canvas?) piece effectively repeats the interior configurations of the image in its exterior contour.  The abstraction of the subjects within Interior of High Street places human figures and architectural structures at odds with each other in clashing angles and colors. Amazingly, the piece is harmoniously balanced despite the visual contrast within. The smooth transitions of values within the compartmentalized/outlined shapes also add richness of color and visual interest.  Scale isn’t indicated, but because of the small inclusions of the environment it looks to be a substantial painting.  No doubt it has an even more dynamic presence installed.
