Curator’s Comments:
I was happy to see this new piece, Bowl of Peppers, posted on the site. While it’s clearly in line with your other close up still life works, taking a step back and including the food’s environment creates an interesting context. Rather than solely capturing the beauty of the organic form, the painting captures a sliver of a domestic scene, as the table looks to be the wrought iron lawn variety. The blue bowl nicely contrasts the fleshy warm reds and yellows, and presents the peppers as an anticipated serving rather than colossally magnified like the cereal and blueberries. I also appreciate the shift away from straight radial balance in the composition by cropping the bottom section and including brushier corners of grass in the top margins. This seems to be a fresher handling (no pun intended) of the subject matter.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
