Kylie scolds Ryan for almost getting himself killed by recklessly facing a Tree Monster. She tells him he's not allowed to join her, Ben, and Pheoby when they go into the woods. Ryan's feelings are severely hurt, because of his feelings for Kylie. So the night after Kylie sneaks out, goes to his home, and drags him to the place place where he and Kylie love to talk after school. They share a tender moment as they make up. Ryan, moments later, will express his feelings for her.
