This 11x14 oil painting was done on a linen panel. It depicts another street scene in Aix-en-Provence, France. I used a photo reference from when I was living in France.

Welcome to the site! Thank you for sharing your urban and genre scenes of people engaged in everyday life. The loose use of color blocking generates animated movement in your work, and a fresh sense of natural light. I particularly enjoy Lady in an Orange Scarf because of the slightly cooler blue-violet color palette.  Roughed in faces balance individual expressions versus the anonymity of a public grouping. The white-haired woman referenced in the title of the painting becomes an interesting focal point because of contrasting hues, and her attention to her phone while occupying a central position in the picture frame.  It’s a perfect slice of contemporary life while not expounding overt social commentary. A Street in Aix is also enjoyable for the brushwork, and more atmospheric use of space.  The buildings receding into blue-violet tinted sky are wonderfully understated, and offer beauty within the ordinary.  I look forward to seeing more of your work on the site.
