Thanks for your response Candace. I do hope you keep pushing your compositions...just be sure to stay on solid (enough) ground.

Thank you so much for the positive critique on Harnessing the Wind. It has given me the inspiration to explore compositions which are not as conventional, but more dramatic. It was painted from a photograph which I took, literally hanging over the side of our sailboat! Again, thank you for your comments!
Curator’s Comments:
Harnessing the Wind really stands apart from your other tropical land and seascapes in the dynamic use of space. The strong diagonal lines cutting across the picture plane give the viewer an unusual vantage point; viewing the cropped vessel as well as the open water in the distance. The cool color palette throughout the painting unifies these spaces, as water and air play against the more grounding boat in the extreme foreground. Analogous blue and violet tinted hues further serve to soften these spatial transitions and emphasize textural surface differences rather than color temperature or value contrast. While the scale of the original work isn’t noted on the site, I imagine a larger canvas would celebrate the strength of the bold composition and atmospheric depth.
