Curator’s Comment:
This barely there landscape seems to be one of the most elemental pieces among your new work. More geometric and achromatic, it strips the horizons and planes into transient intersections of space. The monoprint process may add to the gestural responsiveness, as well as the graininess of the grey tonal areas. I feel as though I’m witnessing the visual process of translating an environment. It could appear to be unfinished next to the full color paintings, but on its own it maintains a meditative, introspective state. The other black and white monoprints you posted this month have a decidedly denser field; inky fluid line is tangled across the positive space in the picture plane. These impress an additive construction to me, while the former piece has a simpler, reductive sensibility.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
