This abstracted landscape contains a fairly muted color palette and low contrast value pattern, but the color fluctuations between pale blue and fleshy pinks draws me in closer for viewing.  I initially anticipated a figure-ground relationship because of the hues, but the organic undulations could just as easily conjure textural elements within a cropped landscape, as intended by the title.  The oil paint looks to be applied in an impasto surface, thickly encrusting each compartmentalized shape.  I found it interesting to look back through your other paintings on the site, which show a broad range of representation and abstraction.  These works contextualize this painting, and suggest a deeper look at the visual rhythms supplied by waterscapes.  As the painting was created a decade ago, I do hope you will consider adding new works to the site.  I would be interested to see where your practice has taken you.
