Curator’s Comments:
For me, painting sunsets and spectacular skies can be problematic as the renditions almost always fall short of the natural splendor and phenomena - there’s always something lost, I imagine, in the translation of light and scale. But despite or perhaps because of this interplay between “big sky”, and inconsequential ground, I’m very attracted to this Landscape (vi) . The streaking pink and powder blues remain ethereal, rather than reduced to opaque pigment; light moves vertically through the picture. The small outcropping of modern society- as dictated through power lines and structures enhance the visual and psychological contrast between the natural and man-made world. Landscape 9 also strikes a fine balance between its understated and heightened/intensified hues against an ordinary ground. These pieces are very provocative, and for me vacillate between quiet awe and cataclysmic events.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
