Curator’s Comments:
This mixed media piece entitled Leash came up randomly on the site today, despite its creation some time ago. I have admired your painting practice for several years, and easily recognize your highly individualized abstraction. Leash is particularly engaging in the slight suspension of visual weight towards the top of the canvas. The dark linear shapes provide a foil to the airy light green space at the bottom, while the analogous color palette softens the tension created through the value contrast. I enjoy the tectonic or structural interplay of forms in many of your pieces, as they set up a loose figure-ground relationship. The square shape of the painting also supports the dynamic equilibrium between active angular elements. These works offer a freshness of light and form- and I do hope you consider posting new work on the site.
