Curator’s Comments:
Ligonier Hill is a fresh and dreamy landscape, full of sweeping movement within a rather narrow field of vision. I enjoy the depth presented through the layered bands of color, from the pale yellow-green to the umbers, and unexpected swath of orange. The brushwork appears almost effortless, but is quite descriptive in the configurations of small trees and bushes. The slightly tilting diagonals within the space prevent the landscape from appearing too calm or passive. While the painting is identified as oil on paper, it looks to be a monotype, with bits of light filtering through the paper ground. The accompanying Helisport Pond has a very different feel, but is intriguing with its darker value pattern and saturation of color. The deep jewel tones of the plants are set off against the pure blue sky and reflective pool; approaching an almost fantastical dark oasis.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
