Curator’s Comments:
Los Nortenos del Llano is a beautiful piece, capturing the vibrancy of the landscape, and connection between the land, animals and people. The rich and warm color palette used throughout your work is tempered here with a calming blue-violet expanse of sky. I enjoy the atmospheric perspective coupled with the slight isolation of the figural grouping. It allows the viewer a sense of place, and the airy vastness of the plains. The elongated horizontal format supports the mood of calm. I also appreciate similar paintings that position the subjects a further distance away from the edge of the picture plane, such as For Spacious Skies, and Los Llaneros Entre el Cielo y la Tiera, for they suggest an insignificance of specific individuals, and the worth of enduring multi-generational attachments. Thank you for sharing this strong body of work on the site. I enjoyed viewing all of these paintings, and look forward to future pieces.
