"Lost Kodama"
Acrylic on Canvas
11x14"
"the paths and silts I wandered carried warm welcome once, until the trees had died, and you, the wind neglectfully blew in favor of the new grassy plain. And so I climbed into the thinning blades above the cold soil, as my golden roots told me it was not my time to stand. And you, the wind, said my time was over, and the forest was a cause lost to irrelevant history. My form continued to fall until I realized the day would come, where my companions and I would bring back the call of the trees as long as we climbed and lived for that dream. The foundation believed, my roots believed, and I believed. And when our forest rises again, oh wind who claimed to be my breath, provider who roared above my home, you who neglected my struggle to grow once again above the earth and naming me the lost cause without a voice; my prosperity will grow in neglect of your stream across the land. While I give to the silts and paths that taught me to grow, you will be the cause that faded into history as the force that spoiled us rotten."
