I have not yet, but I'll try the acrylic gel and check out the bark paper as well. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the positive feedback. A friend brought me back a big pack of bark paper on a trip to Mexico, but I have seen it available in larger art stores here. I think it's also available at Daniel Smith online. The paper is fairly porous, and so it absorbs ink washes rather quickly. Have you tried to seal your paper/wood surface with acrylic gel medium? I've found that to be a way to make paper surfaces receptive to various media.

It's also vaguely reminiscent of the nazar, eye shaped amulet's in use in some european countries, like turkey, to ward off the evil eye (evil spirits).
Love this btw, keep coming back to look at it, to me it exhibits a kind of ethereal blend of the different subjects together with the colorful wash that really draws me in.
But I was curious about the bark paper too, as I have long wanted to work on wood, but it seems to dry out my pen tips.
