Curator’s Comments:
I spent some time viewing Macula when it randomly came up on the site today, and I enjoyed the textural variations in the fairly limited range of warm colored hues. The fluctuations between orange, rust and red-violet give the piece an eroded and earthy feel, which is reinforced by the organic abstraction. There is a faint landscape reference with a darkening ground line, that doesn’t seem to appear anywhere else in your paintings on the site. The markings also appear quieter, with less erratic changes in direction, and haptic modulation. It’s almost as if the thin darker lines were created with an intaglio process, though I see the media is acrylic on panel. The title of the piece doesn’t allude to a specific site; in fact the reference to the biology of the eye could instead direct the viewer to experience the work as a sort of microcosmic environment.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
