Curator’s Comments:

These fantastical and haptic paintings just came to my attention, and hold my interest.  Scomposizione Molecolare is particularly rich, with its dense pigmentation and roughly articulated zig zag line work.  The piece is quite original in its textural handling- I see expressionistic influences, but rather than reveal fully figurative associations, the imagery remains amoebic, as the title suggests.  The intense primary hues appear to cancel each other out to some degree, with the mixed in white pigment providing a small amount of visual rest in the composition. The agitations of the marks also imply movement or evolution of form rather than a static display.  I’m also attracted to Visione.  While I don’t know the scale or media of these paintings, the dense visceral forms and colors add drama and significance to a centralized area of emphasis.   There is a primacy to the aggressive gestures and palette that is quite satisfying.
