This flowing mixed media work appeared randomly on the site for me today, and I was struck by the abstraction of these first few pieces in the context of your highly representational images.  They appear to have very different organizational patterns.  I’m attracted to the fluidity of the large brush marks, and the dexterous interplay they have between the more tightly rendered lines.  I find Masked to be one of most satisfying paintings because of the asymmetrical distribution and suspension of visual weight. The warm pink and ochre hues have an organic and earthy quality, which is successfully contrasted with the eternal transparency of the pigment washes. I also appreciate the dissolution of the figurative form within the picture; there’s enough to anchor the viewer in the space, and then let the eye trail off into the softer abstraction.
