Curator’s Comments:
What a treat to discover your repertoire of work on the site today, several years after the last piece was posted. While sizes aren’t indicated, I imagine these assemblages are on a small, intimate scale, judging by the apparent size of the found objects. The beautifully worked patinas present in most works is subtly employed in Mathilde’s Dream. The blue-green hue of oxidation complements the small bursts of red and green in the totemic form. I enjoy the interplay between interior and exterior worlds, designed by compartmentalized windows, and reinforced by the title of the sculpture. The offset circular piece inside the mellitic window functions as a peering eye, and provides both a focal element, and relief from the strong bilateral symmetry. As with many of your other works, this piece has an interested animated quality emerge from otherwise eroded and static industrial parts. I do hope you consider adding new pieces to the site. These objects provide surprising interplays between materials, and are rich and inviting.
