Curator’ Comment:
Field of Beauty appeared in my random search on the site today. It captured my attention because of the interesting visual contrast between natural landscape and farm equipment, and the slightly surreal scale of those elements. The giant purple thistle flowers reach up to the visual line of the machinery in the compositional background, and tower over the small birds (quails?) below. I appreciate the use of the violet tones echoed in the ground, which help warm the space, and connect visual interest with the flowers. The grass appears lovingly painted, with subtle fluctuations of local color. The softening of the horizon line further contributes to the slightly dreamy quality of the space. The piece entitled God Bless the Rain at first appears aesthetically very different in approach to color and contrast. But the warm brown hue in the farm animals melts its way down into the patchy ground, just as the blue in the sky puddles in the foreground.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
