Curator's Comment:
Thank you for bringing this new piece, Moguls, to my attention. The distribution of visual weight, if not the form, is significantly different from your other sculptures- even those recently posted. I enjoy the proportionally large mass and zigzag movement at the top of the work, and the manner in which the intersecting supports echo this diagonal emphasis. I see the work as robust and stable, and yet dynamic. The title could reference a powerful entity or locomotive; both are apropos The base is harmoniousness in terms of its achromatic value pattern, but is curiously shaped considering the strong bilateral symmetry of the top. I also like that the sculpture is entirely aluminum, as it eliminates any contrast of material or discordant relationship between the sculptural mass and base. It demonstrates both great fluidity and a monumental presence.
