Curator’s Comments:
This third designated piece in your Mother of Pearl Series recently came back up on the site after a long hiatus. Without the context of your other bold and figurative kimono shaped works, I viewed it as a purely formal, non-objective painting. The extremely delicate shifts in the color palette successfully create an iridescent sheen, while the small pearl inclusions are seed-like in an open, organic pool. The dotted brown linear paths clearly coalesce into a circular focal element at the bottom of the piece. The form could suggest a seed pod, or originator of the dots. The movement is fluid, and the opaque ambiguity of the surface pleasing. I’m intrigued by the manner in which the piece is so subtle it almost looks as though it was found in nature rather than artistically manipulated.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
